After a fabulous team performance at Herts XC Championships we hope as many of you as possible plan to come to the 4th round of the Chiltern League this Saturday which takes place at the Keysoe Equestrian centre. This course is a favourite for many of our members – so if you are hesitating please do come and get your new year off with a splash!
If you want to run but haven’t completed a Chiltern League race this season and haven’t signed up then please do so by clicking here – so we can get you on the system.
Supporters please bring your cameras – the water jump is entertaining and makes for some interesting photos. The course will be unchanged except for some minor tweaking to take account of some changes that have taken place at the venue. The venue website is: www.keysoe.com. Directions can be seen by clicking here and a Google Maps link is here.
There is an equestrian event being held on the same day but we do not anticipate that this will cause any problems as long as you follow the instructions of the car-parking marshals to ensure a safe flow of traffic through the site and when walking across the site please respect the horses crossing between arenas.
The courses, including the water splash, will be unchanged except for some minor tweaking.
The great café will be available on the day at the equestrian centre but please be considerate and don’t go in the café or loos wearing spikes or very muddy footwear.
Please remember to arrive 1 hour before your race time for registration and warm up.
Please do bring a complete set of spare clothes, towels, plastic bags and footwear – one or two have thought they might try swimming through the water feature in previous years so it’s best to be prepared.
Race administration will be located at the end of the café for number changes etc.
Timetable is as per normal and can be seen by clicking here.
We do need volunteers to take the tent to provide shelter and volunteers to help on registration – we require all parents of runners to volunteer at least once during the XC season and if we all share the load it makes it manageable. Please visit our volunteer page if you can help.
If you are new to XC or the Chiltern League, runners and supporters – please do read our First Timers Guide and Race Instructions which can be found on the club website and join our Facebook groups.
Friends and family are welcome to run in Keysoe – but if they are not a St Albans or another athletic club member they will need to pay £5 and get a number from the office in the café.
Happy Running and don’t forget to smile at the sharks!
