Another great weekend of Athletics from our group. Firstly James Moore and Rowan Daly took 1st and 2nd in the Summer Solistice 10km in St Albans in 35.12 and 35.26 respectively. This is especially pleasing as it shows our young athletes are coming through the age groups to excel on the road. Then Sam Jones took part in the BMC Loughborough meeting to win his race in a SB and just missing out on a PB in a time of 1.52.69 and today he races in both the 400 and 800 for Hertfordshire in the senior inter counties. We also had lots of success at our home fixture in the SAL. There was winning performances by:
- Will Bowran B stream 5000m
- Jon Constantinou in B Discus, A Hammer
- Nicholas Walker B stream Hammer
- Megan Steer B 400mts
- Miah Lindsay Shot
- Lilly Lee Javelin
- Eleanor Mcardle Javelin
- Special mention to Hannah Rayden for taking part in 1500,400 hurdles ,2km Steeplechase and the 4 x 400
The most exciting finale were as we have seen before, the womens 4x400 with our squad made up of endurance athletes! Eva ran a great 1st leg to hand over in equal first. Keira then continued handing over with an impressive lead which was improved upon by Megan then Hannah, fresh from a 2km Steeplechase stepped up to run an impressive final leg holding on to take gold in an accumulative time of 4.17.1 with London Heathside taking second in 4.20.6.
Who said league athletics cant be equally as exciting as championships!
Well done as always to all of our athletes and please make sure you are all free to take part in the next match in Kings Lynn on Saturday 14th July. With only one more fixture after that on the Saturday 18th August.
3 wins out of 3 for Sam Jones this weekend who won 800m inter-county today in 1:55.3. Went through in 58.5 then a 56.5 second lap. Sat in until last 150m and pushed away from them. Perfect technical 800 racing! Then won his 400m in a new pb 49.57.
Bethany Shaw also won her senior women 100 in a new PB of 12.16.
