TRAINING -temporary training information
CORONAVIRUS: Please do not attend training sessions if you are feeling unwell, and notify the club as soon as possible should an athlete test positive, by emailing email@example.com. We keep a record for 21 days of which groups the athletes have trained in for use with contact tracing systems.
PLEASE NOTE, THESE SESSIONS ARE FOR PAID UP CLUB MEMBERS ONLY AND WE WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO OFFER TRAINING TO AS MANY ATHLETES AS POSSIBLE.

6-7pm – age 8 to Year 6
7-8pm – year 7 to Adult – Middle Distance
8-9pm – Year 7 to Adults – Sprints, Jumps & Throws

MONDAY CIRCUIT TRAINING
Monday Circuits are currently on hold as Westminster Lodge Sports Hall is unavailable and we do not have another Covid secure venue. We will keep you of any alternative when we can.
TUESDAY MIDDLE DISTANCE TRAINING
This session is for middle distance runners who compete for the club at Cross Country or Middle Distance. If you wish to join this session please speak to one of our middle distance coaches. Pre Booking is essential. Athletes must be Year 5 and above. Contact details on the Who’s Who page.
WEDNESDAY SPRINT TRAINING
SUNDAY SOCIAL RUN
Please note, times/venue vary during the season so please join our closed Facebook group for latest updates. This session is open to all our members and families, an easy off-road run, suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. Run at a “conversational pace” in covid secure groups where no one gets dropped or left behind!
BOOKING – SPRINTS, JUMPS AND THROWS TRAINING
Whilst we have to comply with government and England Athletics guidelines, we will have a booking system in place for sessions for all age groups on the track at Westminster Lodge. If you book both Thursday and Sunday, we may not be able to offer both sessions, depending on demand.

BOOKING – MIDDLE DISTANCE TRAINING

Who leads the training session? – All our sessions are lead by qualified volunteer coaches and all athletes up to the age of 17 are taught the basics of a wide range of events. Our current list of coaches can be found on our Who’s Who page.
What do I need to wear/bring? – Please wear suitable sports clothing and trainers/spikes. In cold or wet weather bring plenty of layers and waterproofs. We have a container for storing coats/hoodies during wet training sessions. Please DO NOT bring anything valuable as the club cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, lost or stolen items. Always bring a water bottle. If you are on medication, it is important that you tell our coaches at the start of the session.
Do the athletes train when it’s raining? – Yes, our sessions run in the rain, sun, even snow sometimes, so long as it’s safe. We DO NOT train in thunderstorms. We may also have to err on the side of caution this winter as we cannot use the track building in a Covid Secure way to house 30-60 children and adults if the weather turns poor. Please check the website and Facebook pages for the latest updates during poor weather conditions.
Can I just turn up? – Currently, due to restrictions we’re unable to take any new members for trial sessions. Please keep an eye on website for future updates. If you have a sibling who is already a member, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Can I help? – YES please! Parent helpers are very welcome. The club is run by volunteers and many jobs do not require you to be a qualified coach in athletics. Please speak to any member of the coaching team if you would like to volunteer. You can contact us at the track or using the details on our Contact page.
